Why Transformers 4 ?

Why are they making Transformers 4 ? The answer is because Tranformers 3 made so much money, over $1 billion in global box office, second only to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

How did Transformers 3 make so much money? There were a number of factors:

   - It was released in 3D so higher ticket prices were charged than for 2D movies.

   - In the United States, it was released on Wednesday 29 June on the lead up to Independnce Day on Monday 4 July. With the 3 day weekend, it made $180,651,397 in 5 days over half of its total domestic box office $352,390,543.

   - It was released on over 4,000 screens in domestic cinemas for its first 2 weeks. 3,000 screens is considered a wide release.

   - It was released in China and made $145,542,469 at the box office. Many films are not released in China as foreign films are restricted in number and the Transformer's total has only been surpassed by Avatar the previous year. In comparison, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 made $60,800,000 in China.

   - It did well in non-English-speaking such as South Korea ($69,067,774), Japan ($54,167,274) and Russia ($45,129,718). Including China, the total for these 4 countires was $313,906,235. Being released in over 60 countries, it made $771,356,453 in foreign box office more than twice its domestic box office.
